New Real Talk Gets the Scoop on New Media

Real Talk: A Santa Barbara Forum - New Media Revolution from The Santa Barbara Channels on Vimeo.

The next episode of Real Talk: A Santa Barbara Forum, will explore how the New Media Revolution is impacting the South Coast. The show will be recorded on Wednesday morning, February 24. Viewers are invited to submit questions in advance via email, forum@sbchannels.tv, or to participate as a member of our live studio audience.

As people around the globe receive, process and communicate news and information through ever-changing technologies, a host of local news sites, blogs, and community-based television and online media outlets have emerged on the South Coast to report on neighborhoods, politics and culture. Host Jerry Roberts and his three expert guests will examine the ways Santa Barbara has become a living laboratory of creative and innovative new media projects and businesses.

Panelists include:

  • Dr. Ronald Rice, Arthur N. Rupe Chair in the Social Effects of Mass Communication at UCSB.
  • Bill Macfadyen, founder, publisher and CEO of Noozhawk.com
  • Keri Stokstad, Executive Director, The Santa Barbara Channels, Santa Barbara's Community Media Network

Jerry Roberts, publications director at UCSB and co-founder of Calbuzz.com, will moderate and is a veteran journalist with broad news experience in both traditional and new media.

This new episode, "Real Talk: What the New Media Revolution Means to Our Community,” will premiere on cable Channel 21 on Monday, March 8 at 8:30 PM, and will air throughout March on the following days and times:

Mondays at 12 Noon and 8:30 PM
Wednesday s at 8:30 AM and 5 PM
Fridays at 12 Noon and 8:30 PM
Saturdays at 7 PM
Sundays at 7 PM
